Wouldn’t the world be a more peaceful place without religion?”
“Am I Christian because I really believe it, or because that’s what we’ve been taught to believe?“
“Are all religions equal? Can we even know?”
“What’s the difference between religion and spirituality?“
These are the questions most Christians have asked themselves at one point or another in their walk and also the way Da T.R.U.T.H opens his new video “Religion” from his upcoming album “It’s Complicated” set to release this spring.
The video is simple, filled with beautiful scenes of Da T.R.U.T.H walking the streets of London and familiar imagery easily associated with religion. The aim is clear, sharing the real thoughts and concerns the son of a pastor struggled with himself. He engages us with lyrics that tend to make the average parishioner extremely uncomfortable and encourages us take our own journey to the truth.
The song features an exchange between Da T.R.U.T.H and well known Christian apologist Dr. Ravi Zacharias on the hook. The impact Zacharias has on the song is obvious as he drops memorable quotes such as “In reality, all religions are, at best, superficially similar but fundamentally different” and “Christianity is not the same as who Christ is” further calling the listener to develop their own personal relationship with God and not just follow blindly.
Raw to the core, uncovering what others choose to hide or ignore because of what others may think about them, this song has the potential to make you question your beliefs while at the same time strengthening them, if you let it.
