Purple Heart Album Review

WARNING WARNING WARNING If you like Bubblegum rap, unicorns and unfulfilling lyrics this album isn’t for you. Sevin’s freshman album signed to GOM takes you on a roller coaster ride from the darkest depths of depression, addiction, and blasphemy to the true Glory that is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

How often does an album come along that can actually change your life? I’m not talking about a temporary fix, but roots pulled and chains broken. Answer: Not very often.

Many artist are lyrical, but Sevin has taken being lyrical to a whole new level on his Freshman debut album on GOM “Purple Heart”. It’s one thing to just drop punchline after punchline, but to consistently drop biblically correct punchline after punchline is evidence of the Holy Spirit being Sevin’s ghostwriter. (No pun intended)

God gives increase in uncomfortable positions, and un-comfortableness is exactly what Sevin entered on multiple tracks on “Purple Heart”. Sevin has history of being transparent, but never on the level of a track entitled “Surrender”. I mean really who could invasion Sevin pouring his heart out on “If I Could” about the errors of dating. “You Are God” probably has the most CHH vibe of any track Sevin has ever released. So expect major increase this year for Sevin for making himself uncomfortable for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom.sevin-righteous-video

Overall “Purple Heart” is the best album released in the CHH community thus far in 2016. Sevin is on the top of his game right now, which subsequently puts him at the top of the CHH and HipHop communities as well. “Purple Heart” has features from an arsenal of CHH artist including; Bizzle, Datin, Bumps, Illuminate, Eric C, Sheena, Angie Rose, and Lavosier.

We all knew when Bizzle signed Sevin to GOM the results would equate to greatness. GOM is bating .1000 in 2016 with its second dope album in the first quarter. Datin and Sevin have put the CHH community in a headlock already in 2016. Will 2016 be the year GOM takes over CHH? All signs point to yes!!
